R. Bruce Montgomery, IV., 78 years of Hammonton, New Jersey passed away peacefully at home, on Monday, January 15, 2018. Bruce was a graduate of Haddonfield High School class of 1957 and a member of the Red Devils. He also received his Master’s Degree in Education from Glassboro College. Bruce taught many subjects over his 35 years as teacher at Cherry Hill Middle School. In addition to teaching, Bruce was also a successful soccer and track coach with a lifetime winning record. Bruce was a master craftsman, an accomplished carver and artist and an expert in the art of Bonsai and Orchid growing.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Alice Montgomery (Stewart); loving sons, Robert Montgomery and wife Melody and Ken Montgomery and wife Laura; step-sister, Carol Caporusso; six loving grandchildren, Robby, Lynn, Kristin, Jack, Ben and Will as well as many loving family and friends.
Family, friends and loved ones are encouraged to attend memorial services and a celebration of life on Monday, January 22nd from 10-11am and a service to follow at Cathedral of the Woods located at 100 Stokes Road, Medford Lakes, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome a donation be made in the name of Bruce Montgomery sent to: Waldor Orchids, 10 E. Poplar Avenue, Linwood, NJ 08221. A gift account has been established and contributions will be made towards furthering orchid based education over the course of the next year.
