Obituary of John "Jack" Steck, Sr.

John J. “Jack” Steck, Sr., age 63, of Atco, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday September 15, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.  Devoted husband of Marie Steck (nee Jensen).  Loving father of John J. “Jack” Steck, Jr. (Casie Laspata) and Kristen Rishel (Bryan).  Proud Pop Pop of Bentley Rishel. Big Jack to “Baby” Jacs.  Dear brother of Michael Steck (Beth), Colleen LeSage, Patricia Stride (Roy), Maureen Hentz (Brian), and the late William Steck.  He is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews.

Remembered for his kind heart and helping nature, Jack was born and raised in Maple Shade and was a longtime Atco resident.  He owned and operated Steck Contractors in Atco, NJ, for 43 years and often shared laughs with friends at the yard after work.  Jack was a member of the NHRA and reveled in driving fast racecars and later enjoyed watching his son follow in his footsteps at Atco Raceway.  Also known as the "Mayor" of Atco, Jack enjoyed Philadelphia sports, especially the Phillies (with the exception of the last few seasons).

Viewing will be held on Tuesday September 19, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Leroy P. Wooster Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ.  A family eulogy will begin at 8:00 pm.  Cremation will be held privately.  Jack's family asks that any friends and family that have classic cars to bring them to the funeral and have one final car show for him.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.  Condolences may be shared at www.lpwoosterfuneralhome.com
