Mr. Yogesh R. Babu passed away peacefully in his home in Cherry Hill, NJ surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones on the evening of October 16th, 2023. Despite battling a chronic neurologic disease in recent years, he enjoyed heartfelt home-cooked meals and listening to music until his last days. He was born in Ahmedabad in 1943 and was the 9th of 12 siblings. After immigrating to USA in1969, Yogesh earned his master’s degree in civil engineering in Norfolk, VA. In 1972, with one glance, he met the love of his life and soon married Rajeshri Mehta in his Bharat homeland. After returning to America, he worked in various engineering firms which brought him to and ultimately settled in Cherry Hill in 1977. Yogesh opened his own business in the 1990s and built lasting friendships with many of his customers given his jovial nature and tendency to bring a smile to everyone’s face. Along the way, he was instrumental in helping many of his extended family members immigrate to the USA.
Yogesh lived a life of passion for music, dance, and fashion and was the mastermind of every card game. Known for his trademark suspenders and upbeat spirit, he was the life of every room - at social gatherings, at parties and at the poker table. As an active member of the Jain community, Yogesh was revered as he led and volunteered in large functions and ceremonies. He embraced his friends and family with pride and left a mark full of spirit in his community. He was the proudest of the proud with regards to his daughters, and showcased their talents every moment that he could.
In his last few years, his health declined but he kept his spirit alive with the unconditional love and care by his wife, Rajeshri. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rajeshri, daughters - Soniya and Monica, sons-in-laws - Shashank and Aswan, grandchildren - Siyana, Shayne, and Alivia, and devoted caretaker / adopted family member - Guy (Kevin) Beverly.
A viewing and puja will held on Thursday, October 19th 2023, beginning at 3:00 pm at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ, 08004. In lieu of flowers, a donation to one of these foundations in Mr. Babu’s honor is highly appreciated: Ekal Vidyala Foundation , or The Parkinson’s Foundation .
