William Broomer Jr. (nicknamed Willie by many) was everyone’s best friend—always happy to see you, always ready to defend you, and never shy to love you. Born in Waynesboro Georgia to Cora Harris and Willie Broomer Sr. on August 16, 1936, Willie was a forward thinker always looking to the future and discussing ways to stay ahead in the game of life. And while he was not close with his stepbrothers, he found solace and sibling love in Lillian Parker and the rest the family of his late wife, Mary Jane.
Quiet in demeanor, Willie lit up the room with his jokes, antics, and overall jiving personality. Despite losing his beloved in 2021, He continued to put his faith in God first and always and was never afraid for what the future might bring. On April 20, 2023, he took his last breath in a peaceful slumber and entered the gates of Heaven where his wife (aka Minnie) was surely waiting. He is survived by two sons (Anthony and Bruce), one daughter (Tracy), 6 grandchildren (Nicole, Shonda, Chris, Sherice (ReRe), Anthony Jr., and Briana), 1 great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
While Willie enjoyed watching any and all sports, his favorite was rooting for the Dallas Cowboys. He equally enjoyed analyzing the news in the morning and watching Sanford and Son with his beloved Minnie in the afternoons. Outside the home, he was fond of spending time in the sun, watching his grandchildren’s dance recitals, or trading stories at the family cookouts. He was everyone’s buddy. When we think of Willie, we’ll remember his humor, good-natured teasing, and unbeatable checkers skills. We’ll remember all the moments that make us smile and know that he’s watching us next to Mary Jane and smiling too.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Life Church, located at 1509 N. Main St., Williamstown, NJ 08094.
