Wendell Erwin Helwig

Wendell Erwin Helwig, age 83, of Cape May, NJ passed away on Thursday, September 12th, 2024. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Sylvia Helwig, children, Brian Stewart (Lori), Robin Mitchell, Wendy Tyler (Tom), and Greg Helwig (Staci), grandchildren, Avery Stewart, Rachael Stewart, Brianna Veroline, Erica Weber (Collin Walsh), Tommy Tyler, Alyssa Tyler, Robert Jelinski, (Carmen), Amanda Helwig, and Courtney Helwig, great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Caroline, Grayson, and Shiloh, sister, Barbara Todt (Bill) as well as his adored cat, April. Wendell is pre-deceased by his parents, Erwin and Inez Helwig.

Wendell was born in Roanoke, Virginia and was a United States Army Veteran in his early years. Later in life he worked as a pharmaceutical representative, retiring from Smith Kline Beecham to most recently working for GlaxoSmithKline. In his free time, Wendell enjoyed casting a line out in the water, or hitting the greens, golfing. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family.

Cremation will be held privately at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wendell’s memory can be made to the animal charity of your choice.
