With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and father-in-law, Uwe Mahnfeldt, on April 26, 2025.
Uwe shared a lifetime of love and friendship with his wife Judy, standing side by side for more than 54 years until her passing in 2023.
Born and raised in West Berlin, Germany, Uwe never lost his deep pride for his homeland. His familiar stern German accent, known to many of their sons' friends was a hallmark of who he was, but those who knew him well understood that behind it was a generous heart and a sharp sense of humor that could swiftly add presence to any room.
Family was everything to Uwe. He leaves behind two loving sons, Mark and Martin, and three grandchildren who adored him - Chase, Jewel, and Delilah and daughter-in-law Lynn. He was a proud and devoted father and grandfather, rarely missing a hockey game, a soccer match, or an opportunity to share in his family's milestones. If he wasn't cheering from the stands, he was often on the phone, keeping close ties with loved ones back in Germany.
Uwe built an amazing career as an engineer, working proudly for two German-based companies where he earned the respect of colleagues with his dedication and honesty. After retiring, he poured his energy into his garden, his books, and late-night movie marathons with Judy - simple moments that meant the world to him. His love for animals, especially his dogs, often rescued and brought home by Martin, filled his later years with even more joy and companionship.
Uwe was a man of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and endless warmth. His life was rich in family and the small pleasures he cherished every day. He leaves behind a legacy of love, pride, and resilience that will continue to inspire those he loved most.
A private service will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a local animal rescue in Uwe's memory - a tribute to his lifelong compassion.
Though we will miss him dearly, we find comfort knowing he is reunited with his beloved Judy. His spirit, his laughter, and his love will stay with us always
