Theresia “Resi” Kraenbring, Atco, NJ passed away peacefully with her family by her side, going to be with God and her husband Hugo on Monday, March 8, 2021. Resi Sauer was born on February 6, 1937 in Putinci, Yugoslavia (Serbia) to Franziska and Wilhelm Sauer. Surviving the trials and tribulations of World War II she and her family migrated through Graz, Austria and came to the United States of America in 1952 on the USNS General Harry Taylor (T-AP-145), a ship whose duties consisted mainly of carrying troops, dependents, and large numbers of European refugees to the United States after World War II. Resi, her parents and three sisters (Sophie Eyman, San Rafael, CA, Frieda Caldwell, San Jose, CA, and Elizabeth Sauer (dec)) were sponsored to come to America by Seabrook Farms in Seabrook, NJ. where they worked on the farm and in the factory while living in the barracks housing. In 1955 she married the love of her life, Hugo to whom she was married for 62 years until his passing in September 2017. Resi and Hugo also proudly became Naturalized United States citizens in 1959. They remained in New Jersey their entire time together living in Pennsauken and Atco respectively. They raised three wonderful children, Viktor (Elizabeth) Thurmont, MD, Richard (Leigh Anne Loux) Pennsauken, NJ, and Lisa Toff (Edward) Logan Township, NJ. She had three grandchildren, two step grandchildren as well as nine great grandchildren all of which she adored. There are also many nieces and nephews who will always remember Tante Resi too! As her family and friends can attest to, Theresia was never at a loss for words or an opinion on a topic, which she freely gave. She was true to her European roots and continued ensuring that her family, relatives, and friends enjoyed the traditional German style food, language, and holiday traditions over the years. She too, absolutely loved living in and being an American. She loved to travel and did so extensively throughout the country with her husband and children over the years. She was an avid reader her whole life and became proficient in Sudoku and a follower of Tai Chi in her later years. We love you and will miss you! Danke Schoen und Auf wiedersehen. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to: National Federation for the Blind of NJ, 295 Broad St., Keyport, NJ 07735 Email: president@nfbnj.org
