Sumant Bhalla

Captain Sumant “Sam” Bhalla, age 70, of Voorhees, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Sumant leaves behind his wife, Nishi Singh, his loving children Rakhal & Anoop Bhalla, Akhil Bhalla, Neeta Singh, Nikhil Singh Bhalla and Amar Singh as well as his loving grandchildren Anjalie Zadith Bhalla, Priyana Kaur Bhalla and Pavak Singh Bhalla. Sumant is also survived by his brother, Hemant Bhalla, and is predeceased by his parents, Kailash Nath Bhalla and Promilla Bhalla. Captain Sumant Bhalla was born in Bombay, India and followed in his father's footsteps as a graduate from Dufferin, the Indian Merchant Marine Academy. He then proceeded to sail the seven seas as a Merchant Marine Captain for over 25 years. Captain Sam eventually hung up his Capitan’s hat and immigrated to the United States of America where he established his business, Intech Marine Inc., a marine survey company. After retirement, his passions in life were his family, friends, batch mates, the high seas, India and cricket. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A visitation and Hindu Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 2 PM to 4 PM at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004. Cremation will be private. .
