Sudie Helen Bartels (nee Wilson), age 75, passed away at her home in Marlton Lakes, NJ, on Friday, February 11th, 2022 surrounded by her 3 children and grandchildren; surrounded in love. Sudie was born in Philadelphia, PA to Milton and Regina (Ramsey) Wilson (deceased). She grew up as 1 of 9 children, living in Gibbsboro, NJ. Sue left school at age 15 when she married her first husband, James Gregory of Lindenwold (deceased) in 1962. They had 2 children, James and Debbie (Richard). Sue and James separated in September of 1967 and were divorced in September of 1970. She was a single mom for 5 years, working as a bartender at Tex's Erial Grill. We have many amazing memories with her during this time.... the 3 musketeers. In July of 1972 she married William Edward Bartels Jr. of Marlton, NJ. He preceded her in death in October of 2021. This year they would have celebrated 50 years together. In 1974 they had a son, William Edward Bartels III of Marlton Lakes, NJ. Before receiving her GED in 1988, Sue drove a school bus for Coast Cities and then went on to become an instructor/tester for the NJDMV in Berlin, NJ, where she worked for many years before leaving to pursue her cosmetology degree. In 1988 Sue earned her GED at the age of 42 and went on to graduate in 1990 From Camden County Vo-Tech, at the top of her class in cosmetology, at the age of 44. She had a highly successful career of 25 years before retiring in 2015. Everyone has memories of Aunt Sue’s at home salon. That was her memory making room. She was from a family of 9. She was preceded in death by both husbands, both parents and her brother Harry Yeager. Her remaining siblings are Jean Stover, Milton Wilson, Linda Knowles, Kathy Conklin, Bobby Wilson, Dorothy Groce and James Yeager. Sue has 11 grandchildren, Steven Billington, Kaci Billington, Stephanie Cassabria, Katie Kerr, Richard Adair, Deanna Adair, John Adair, Samantha Bartels (Matthew Titus Jr, fiancé) Nikki Gregory, Jesseca Bartels and AJ Adair. She has 12 Great grandchildren, Sophia Cassabria, Gretchen Stubbs, Nico Cassabria (preceded her in death at age 10), Ava Cassabria, Nina Cassabria, Keira Billington, Dimitri Stubbs, Jasper Adair, Isabella McBride, Josie Adair and twins Kleovanna and Kanan Bartels. She dedicated her life to caring for others. She cared for her mom, dad and her brother Harry until their deaths. She also took care of numerous friends during times of trial. She was always doing more for others than herself. She loved her friends and will be deeply missed by her dear friends Eileen Barclay and Eileen Bickerdyke and family of Berlin, NJ. They provided care and comfort in friendship up until Sue's passing. Sue loved bingo, traveling, trips to Atlantic City with friends and family and she absolutely adored her grandchildren. She is survived by her children James, Debbie and William as well as numerous nieces and nephews as well as the siblings mentioned. She was one of the strongest women ever and overcame every challenge presented. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19th from 11:00am to 12:00pm at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. A memorial service will begin at noon. Interment will be held private.
