Sharadbhai Pandya, 81, was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He passed away, surrounded by his family members, on Wednesday July 28th, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Rajashree Pandya, the devoted father of Ushma Pandya Mehta (Vivek Mehta) and Ankur Pandya (Sonya Banerjee) and loving grandfather to Sahaana and Avani Mehta and grandpaw to Chutney, a Morkie. He was a much-loved father, and his children will miss him very much. He was their biggest cheerleader, and his unwavering love and support greatly enriched their lives. He was born to Vidyaben and Navinchandra Pandya on August 14, 1939 and is the elder brother to five sisters, the late Sangitaben Pandya, Kokilaben Pandit, Renuben Desai, Harshidaben Pandya and Pannaben Bhatt. His nickname, given by his mother, was Kiko. He studied engineering at M.S. University of Baroda and became a faculty member there after graduation. In 1968, he immigrated to the U.S. to pursue further studies at BYU in Provo, Utah. He was proud to be a lifelong learner and loved to share his knowledge with all. He earned a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees and was completing his PhD when professional opportunities came calling. He was a certified professional engineer and worked in the public and private sector, most recently for the NJ Department of Environmental Protection While in the U.S., he lived in Chicago, Los Angeles, then in Cherry Hill, NJ, for 38 years. He developed lifelong friendships within the community that sustained him and gave him joy. Friends and family always appreciated his calm and jovial nature. He enjoyed socializing with friends and family. He loved to travel and learn about new cultures and places. Even if he had not a visited a place, he could tell you many things about it because he was constantly exploring and thinking about where to go next. He was a man of faith and enjoyed being an active member of the Hindu Berlin Temple and Swaminarayan Temple community. May God bless his new journey the way he blessed everyone around him.
