In Loving Memory of Satish K. Gupta
With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved father, Satish K. Gupta. Dad left us on February 11th surrounded by his family in his home. He was a man of deep integrity, honesty, loyalty and laughs - someone whose word was his bond and whose heart was always open to others. His empathy and compassion touched countless lives, and his generosity knew no limits. Whether through his perseverance in the face of challenges, his innate ability to problem solve an issue, his deep rooted desire to make the community around him a better place or simply his approach to lift those around him, our father led by example in everything he did and wholeheartedly truly loved all around him. Those who knew him, loved him.
Born in Shimla, India, Satish pursued his education at the prestigious UDCT, now known as Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) in Bombay, before pursuing his Master’s in Chemical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. Highly respected in his field, he was often sought after to solve complex problems - many beyond his formal training - demonstrating his remarkable intellect, resilience, hard work and ingenuity. His career took him across the world, where he embraced every new culture with curiosity and respect, a mentality he instilled in his children. For him, travel was not about sightseeing; it was about immersing himself in different cultures, sharing meals with locals, and embracing the richness of human connection.
His zest for life radiated daily. His desire to help others - regardless of who they were - was a testament to his humility, service first mentality, and desire to see people around him succeed.
Believing that true fulfillment lay in helping others, dad's compassion was boundless and spanned his lifetime. Whether he was helping families in Himachal Pradesh further their children’s higher education, leading domestic abuse support initiatives in Pittsburgh, mentoring young professionals endlessly, serving as the Treasurer for the Hindu Jain Temple along with several committees often focusing on local outreach and senior citizen education/companionship, leveraging his expertise to bring clean drinking water to rural villages in India, or encouraging children in South Africa to stay dedicated to their dreams despite life’s challenges by providing ongoing resources to support their betterment, he did it with a full heart. His belief in education, opportunity, and human dignity were the foundation of his philanthropic endeavors and frankly his daily life.
Above all, family was his greatest treasure. To him, the term encompassed not only his loved ones but his friends, neighbors, and the greater community. Spending time together was a priority - as children there was hardly a weekend we did not see one another - whether it was just for a simple cup of chai, a dinner, or a formal gathering - he brought people together reminding us that love, laughter and shared moments were life's greatest wins. Dad instilled the value of family in each one of us as the utmost priority. He was certainly the glue to our village. His bond with his wife and children were unbreakable, and his granddaughter, Jaya, was his brightest light.
Beyond his work, family and service, Satish lived life fully. He enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, traveling, annoying mom, dancing, creating art, meeting new people, and of course, watching the Steelers win! Dad was a lifelong learner. He always wanted to improve upon himself and he often did by seeking to learn and interact with the next generation. He was both a mentor and a student, introspective yet forward-thinking, always believing that education was the key to progress.
In his final days, he spoke of feeling complete - fulfilled by a life well-lived and comforted in the knowledge that his family would continue to walk the path he and his wife set for them and take care of one another. We plan to do just that. His final wish was to reunite with his beloved wife of 42 years, Rama Rani, and in that, he found peace.
We will be honoring his legacy this Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 3 PM EST. at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike Atco, NJ 08004. Services will be followed by cremation.
