Ronald R Propst

Ronald “Ron” R. Propst, age 78, of Atco NJ, passed away to join his beloved on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 with his children by his side.

Loving Dad to Richard Regn, Michele (late Robert) Azar, Daniele Regn and the late Michael Regn.

Proud grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 11. Dear brother of the late Helen “Lois” Ostroff (late Marvin), the late Jack (Jean) and Barbara Willson (late James) of Vineland NJ.

He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews, 22 great nieces and nephews, 12 great great nieces and nephews and many cousins. He will be missed by all including his home health aid, Lillie, who took wonderful care of him.

Ron was born in Pierce, West Virginia. Once he met his wife Fran, on a blind date, they lived in Vineland for six years until settling in Atco, NJ in 1980.

In his younger years, Ron enjoyed golfing, bowling, family poker nights, trivia, and genealogy. He also enjoyed traveling and has set foot in every state except Alaska. He was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan. He could sing, “I walk the line” just as well as Johnny Cash.

He joined the United States Marines in 1962. Volunteering to serve as additional 2 years. He was a radar technician who rosed to the rank of sergeant. While serving he received the Expert Badge M-14 Rifle, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars, Good Conduct medal and Navy Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged in 1968.

Ron was consider a dependable, reliable and hard working man who worked at the steel mills, as a truck driver, dispatcher and bus driver. The kids made getting up at 5 AM worthwhile.

If you were lucky enough to meet Ron, he certainly left you chuckling and smiling. He never passed up the opportunity to tell you a riddle or joke. He had at least one for every occasion and if he got on a roll, your sides ached from laughing.
