Robert P. Costello

February 25, 1945 — May 10, 2021

Robert P. Costello, 76 years young, bought into this world by his adoring mother on February 25, 1945 and returned to her waiting arms on May 10, 2021 after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. Survived by his wife of 53 years Sharon (nee Healey), his daughters Kelli (Tony) Yodis and Kristie (Roger) Booth, his "adopted" daughters Denise Shely and family, Maureen Hemhauser and family, and "His Girls" Kimmy and Cindi, his beloved and cherished grandchildren Tyler and Cassie and "adopted grandchild" Chance Seachrest, older brother Dan, sister Bunny, his favorite brother-in-law Michael (Cyndy) Healey, nephew Shawn and his special masseuse Kristine Howell. He is predeceased by his father, John and mother, Carrie. He started his life in Philadelphia where he met his loving wife and joined IBEW Local 98 before relocating to Collings Lakes, NJ. He worked for 38 years before beginning his dream job of "babysitting" his grandchildren for 18 years. "Big Bob" or "Poppy" as he was known by friends and family was a welcoming soul; he would pull up a chair and sit with you awhile, offer a beer or two, or as he always said, "one more for the road". No matter what road of life you were on he was always cheering, supportive and encouraging everyone around him to do and be better, kinder and more patient. We have been told that the world could learn a thing or two from how Poppy lived his life. Enjoying friendships and family, living at a steady pace, building a home life that turned his house into a destination. This describes everything you need to remember about him. We will miss his kind and gentle spirit. His greatest loves were his projects with "his girls", hanging by the pool, watching sporting events on tv or attending every single game his grandchildren played. He never missed a game and scheduled his appointments around their schedule. But his greatest love was taking the family to Disney World and his patience was never more evident than when the "kiddies" wanted to do the same ride for the millionth time and Poppy was right there. Buzz light year had nothing on Poppy. Services will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice in his memory. "You may have died ...but you are not gone you will always be a part of me...as long as the sun shines...the wind blows...the rain falls...You will live on inside of me forever for that is all my heart knows" Unknown
