Richard R. Gardner

On September 22nd, Richard Gardner age 84yrs of Atco, NJ (Louden) passed away after a long illness. Richie as he was known at Instantwhip, the company he worked for 35 years. He is survived by his wife Betty Anne Gardner of 42 years, his four children, Richard Jr. (Monica), Cheryl Sciacca (Joseph, Jr.), William (Kevin), Robert (Candace). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with 1 on the way and his sister Edith Baker along with many nieces and nephews. His love of firefighting started as a young man serving Louden Volunteer Fire Company at the age of 18, following his father and serving for 25 years attaining the rank the Chief before retiring. Richard also served as a section warden with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, Atco Ambulance Squad and was treasure for many years with Waterford Township E.M.S. Many weekends you could find him in the ambulance at the Atco Raceway for more than 25 years. Richard was a Life Member of the New Jersey Fireman’s Relief Association, Life Member of the Louden Volunteer Fire Company, Life Member of the Atco Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Sons of the American Legion and a member of Alpha Gun Club. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, October 7th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and again on Friday, October 8th from 10:00am to 11:00am at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am. Interment will be held at the Atco Cemetery, Atco, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waterford Twp. EMS, 192 “A” St., Atco, NJ 08004.
