Raymond John Porutski , 65, of Atco, passed away at home on February 1,
2023. He was born in Plainfield, NJ, on May 9, 1957, son of the late Raymond C.
and Margaret J. (Mazzetta) Porutski. He is survived by his spouse of 27 years,
Kathy, his sister, Debbie Ward (Richard), niece, Ashley and nephew, Travis
(Tori and Becket). He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Frank Previte,
sister-in-law, Diane Carlucci and their children as well as many other dear
family members and friends.
Ray grew up in Piscataway before moving to Atco as a teenager. He graduated
from Rutgers University Cook College in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science
degree in Wildlife Management and worked for the New Jersey Division of
Fish and Wildlife for 35 years as a wildlife biologist before retiring in 2014.
An avid outdoorsman, he had a lifelong passion for saltwater fishing, and
hunting deer, pheasant and quail. His greatest pleasure was taking friends out
on his 21-foot Pursuit fishing boat in search of fluke and striped bass in the
waters off Sandy Hook. He treasured his family, his annual summer vacation
at Wildwood Crest, and his beloved hunting dogs. He was a NY Yankees fan, an
excellent cook and enjoyed growing a variety of vegetables in his massive
backyard garden. His warmth, humor and generosity will be missed by all.
