Raymond C. Mcdonald

Raymond C. McDonald, of W. Berlin, NJ, passed away on April 15, 2023 in his sleep after a lengthy battle with Cancer. He was 77 years old. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Grace (nee Smith) and Clinton Swope. Beloved husband of 55 years to Mary McDonald (nee Jobes). Loving father of the late Rayanne McDonald, as well as his two surviving, devoted children, Raymond C. McDonald Jr. (Jennifer) and Melissa McDonald. He is also survived by his two dear siblings, William McDonald (Hildia), Judy Resh (Wade), nine precious grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, brother and sister in-laws.

Ray served in the Coast Guard from 1964-1970, at which time he received an honorable discharge. Serving his country was one of the things he was most proud of in his life. He was an active member of the American Legion, Post No. 0371 in Gibbsboro, NJ, as well as an active member of the Lindenwold Moose, Lodge 548.

Ray was a really hard worker and a great provider for his family. He worked in the retail grocery business until 2011, when he retired from Ravitz’s ShopRite and from the local 1360 chapter of the UFCW, in good standing.

After retirement, his greatest joy came from caring for his yard, decorating his house for the holidays, passing the time sitting on his front porch with his loyal dog, Sammy and waving to neighbors and friends as they drove or walked by. He was also an avid Eagles fan and loved to watch them play. GO BIRDS!!!

He will be sadly missed by his entire family, but he will live on in all of their hearts.

A visitation will be held from 10am-11am on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Leroy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ with a service beginning at 11 am. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Berlin, NJ following the service.
