Ralph A. Volpe, Sr.

Ralph A. Volpe, Sr., age 91, Atco, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Cesare and Lena (nee Gianninoto) Volpi and predeceased by his parents and brother, Anthony. Ralph was a skilled cement mason and worked for Philadelphia Local 592 for over 50 years. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Ralph was also lovingly known as “Mr. ShopRite” because of his many years as part of the coffee club that met at ShopRite in the early mornings. Family meant the most to him. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and “Big-Pop” to his great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his loving family, relatives and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66-1/2 years, Roseann M. Volpe (Massare); children, Ralph A. Volpe, Jr. and Linda Melchiorre (Dave); grandchildren, David Melchiorre (Laura), Tina Cobar (Eric, Sr.), Steven Melchiorre (Victoria) and Kevin Melchiorre (Kaela); great-grandchildren, Gabriel Melchiorre, Ricardo Cobar and Eric Cobar, Jr. Also, by his brother-in-law Salvatore J. Massare, sister-in-law Dolores M. Boccuti, and many generations of nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends who attend are requested to wear masks and are welcome to a visitation with his family on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 10am-10:50am at Christ the Redeemer Parish, Assumption Church, located at 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr., Atco, NJ 08004. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am at the church, followed by his entombment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bellmawr, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ the Redeemer Parish (318 Carl Hasselhan Drive, Atco, NJ 08004), MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper (mdanderson.org), or Samaritan Hospice (Samaritannj.org.).
