Peter S. Meyers, a much-respected and well known scientist in the world of ion exchange technology, died on October 4th, 2022. Mr. Meyers was 68 years old.
Mr. Meyers was born on October 8, 1953 in Monrovia to Rexol and Sarajane Meyers and spent his early life in southern California. He was a graduate of Don Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead, CA, where his fascination with chemistry began. He went on to study chemistry at University of California Santa Cruz. He was soon recruited by L*A Water Treatment Company in City of Industry, CA, where he was employed for the next two decades. He was intimately involved with the engineering, process design, field installation, start-up, and troubleshooting of industrial water treatment systems all over the world. After leaving L*A Water Treatment, Mr. Meyers took a position in 1994 as the Technical Director of ResinTech, Inc., a premier manufacturer of ion exchange resins and related products.
The Cherry Hill, NJ resident was a prolific technical writer who authored scores of articles on water purification. He was one of the water treatment industry’s most sought-after presenters, discussers, and session leaders at such stalwart technical conferences such as the International Water Conference, The Water Quality Association, AquaTech Amsterdam, Association of Water Technologies, and various other regional organizations that serviced the water purification market. His expertise covered a wide range of ion exchange topics from demineralization, condensate polishing, and water softening to industrial process design and operation. Mr. Meyers’ name also appears on 5 U.S. Patents related to ion exchange technology.
Peter was an accomplished hiker, swimmer, and rock climber who loved camping trips and nature. He could always be found with his professional photography equipment, capturing shots of the natural terrain he visited. He and his wife Donna recently fulfilled his life-long dream of traveling to Nepal to visit Kathmandu and Mount Everest Base Camp.
