Our sweet Milissa Ann Oltman, 52, of Atco, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 18th, 2024, in her home surrounded by immense love and care from her family. Milissa was born on May 26th, 1971, in Syracuse, NY. Her family moved to Marlton, NJ, where she resided with her mother, Nancy Amsden, father, Malcolm Amsden, sister, Leigh Soriano (née Amsden), and brother, Jeffrey Amsden. She attended Cherokee High School, where she met her husband of 26 years, Evan. Milissa graduated from Cherokee High School in 1990 and earned her associate's degree at Burlington County College and her bachelor's of arts in Teaching of the Handicapped at Rowan College in 1996, earning Magna Cum Laude from the College of Education.
After graduating, she started her first job at Brookfield Academy as a teacher. After a few years, she made a challenging yet highly gratifying decision to take on a new role as a stay-at-home mother for 12 years. After raising 3 children - Breanna Oltman (25), Jakob Oltman (23), and Blake Oltman (20), she accepted a job at Berlin Community School as a Preschool Disabled/Preschool Inclusion Teacher, where she proudly worked for 15 years. The passion and love she exuberated for her job, students, and colleagues was evident to all who came into contact with her. She possessed a true gift that she happily shared with all her students and their families over the years.
In her free time, Milissa loved to spend quality time with her family, enjoying the outdoors and the beach - specifically Ocean City, NJ and going out on the boat, shopping - especially at Marshall’s, listening to all genres of music, going to concerts - with a special love for country music and caring for her puppies.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Milissa knew her immense and unceasing love for her family, especially her children and husband. She always wanted them to shoot for the stars and take on every opportunity to be the best versions of themselves. She was able to see each of her children graduate from college, which was a special moment since, in her eyes, she could see all of her hard work as a dedicated mother pay off and come to fruition. Milissa was supportive, motivating, loving, and nurturing as a wife. Evan and Milissa shared a bond that grew stronger as the years progressed - they were both best friends and soulmates - who were meant to be together and create a beautiful life for themselves and their children, and they did just that.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy Amsden of Marlton, NJ; sister, Leigh Soriano (née Amsden) of Westmont, NJ; brother, Jeffrey Amsden of Marlton, NJ; husband, Evan Oltman of Atco, NJ; daughter, Breanna Oltman of Atco, NJ; son, Jakob Oltman of Atco, NJ; son, Blake Oltman of Atco, NJ.
An intimate Celebration of Life will take place to honor Milissa during the month of May since it includes Mother’s Day (her favorite day) and her birthday. Details will follow for family members and close friends. Arrangements are under the care and direction of LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home and Crematory.
