Michael V. Zito, 65, passed away on March 31, 2025, at the Samaritan Hospice in Voorhees, NJ. Michael was born on May 16, 1959 in Camden, NJ, to Anthony Zito, Sr. and Joan Zito.
As a teenager, Michael was a volunteer fireman for Dunbarton Fire Department, which was located right across the street from his childhood home. He also hunted with Hoopers Hounds Deer Club as a young man.
Michael graduated from Edgewood High School in 1978. He began his career as a laborer and he worked for many years alongside his brother Guy for their father, completing industrial maintenance contracts at the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill Plant in Delair, NJ. After that, he continued to specialize in concrete and masonry, doing concrete jobs for numerous people in town. At a young age, Michael also developed a passion for investing in real estate; buying an old property, renovating it, and selling it for a profit was an enjoyable adventure for him. He finished his work career by spending the last 10 years working with his brother Anthony while undergoing dialysis, a kidney transplant, and a pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
Michael enjoyed simple pleasures like fishing, golf, gardening, and cooking. He played his ukulele daily and was self-taught. An avid Phillies fan, he watched or listened to every game. When the Phillies weren't playing, he watched Fox News; he was a Trump supporter, and a supporter of disabled American veterans. His two favorite childhood TV shows were "The Three Stooges" and "The Beverly Hillbillies," and references to these shows were often incorporated into his conversations. He grew a beautiful garden that produced more than he could cook, so he was happy to share his harvest with his family and friends that stopped by for a visit.
Michael was a fun loving, independent guy who loved adding a one-line zinger at the end of a conversation. He was likely the only kid in high school who got his license and was driving a Fleetwood Brougham Cadillac around the high school parking lot. He even once jumped out of an airplane. Those who knew him might be surprised to learn that Michael was an Altar Boy when he attended Assumption School in Atco, can you just imagine that? Michael lived a fun and adventurous life, and we should all remember the good times and funny memories he left us with.
Michael leaves behind his mother, Joan Zito of Atco, and his brothers, Anthony Zito, Jr. (Carol) of Waterford, Gary Zito (Charlene) of Elm, Guy Zito of Atco and sister Michele Zito of Atco. Michael is also survived by his 6 beloved nieces and nephews, Arianna Zito, Alexa Farinelli (Carmen), Alyssa Zito (George), Miranda Re (Adam), Aaron Zito (Alexandria), Austin Zito (Ashten). Great nieces, Amelia and Abigail Zito. Michael also leaves behind his Aunt, Elaine Simkins of Elm.
Burial will be private per Michael's wishes.
