Margarette Raie Dakour was born on March 23, 1951, to the late Soleiman Raie and Nahi Raie of Beirut, Lebanon. Although an angel on earth, she spread her wings to fly on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 to join the other angels in heaven above. For 55 years, Margo was the beloved wife of George Dakour. She was a mother of 8 to Jeanette Dakwar-Reynolds (Frank), Yaacoub Dakwar (Madelane), Maria Dakwar-Yousef (Joseph), Fairouz Muaddi (Anwar), Nahi Dakwar (Eduardo), Marcelle Dakwar, Madlene Johnson (Jerry), and Rola Dakour (Benjamin), who were all affectionately known as Margo’s kids because of her unconditional love for them. While she was generous, caring, and loving, Margo would stand strong as a fierce warrior to protect her children, as they were her reason for living. She was the sister of Khalil Raie (Madline), Alice Takfour-Rai, Mary Al-Shouli, Sarah Jabour (Habib), Tareze Raie (Majdi), Phillip Rai (Vivian), and Laila Sholy (George). Margo had a passion for her family and God. She enjoyed laughter, cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends. She was a dutiful Catholic who saw God in everything and always kept her prayer book and rosary in hand. She endured more adversity in her lifetime than most would ever imagine. She was a young mother who fled war in Lebanon with just her family and limited resources in tow. Yet despite it all, she maintained a passion and love for life that left an imprint on everyone she encountered. They heard it in her invaluable wisdom. They saw it in her unrelenting selflessness. They felt it in her hugs and kisses and heard it in her laughs. They received it in her service and in her love. Everyone saw the blessings of God in her. Her motherhood extended to so many others, including 24 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, children she saved during war, and people that came to her for counsel and prayer. They say it takes a village to raise children. She was the village of all villages. Margo gave away every last flicker of her light until God returned her home. Although her candle has finally gone out, her light lives on in every person she’s touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Saint Maron Maronite Catholic Church, 1013 Ellsworth Street, Phila, PA. 19147. The funeral will be held at the Church on June 7 at 11:00 a.m., followed by Interment at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
