Louis Michael Chiumento

April 14, 1942 — January 7, 2025

Louis Michael Chiumento, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 7th , 2025.

Born and raised in Atco, Lou was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, Class of 1960.

Lou was truly a warm and kind hearted man, always putting the needs of others before his own. He was a pillar of strength for his loved ones, providing comfort, guidance, and unwavering support. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them, especially his daughter, Deborah and grandson, Enzo, to which he was affectionately known as “poppy.”

Many remember Lou from the 50 years he spent working at the Berlin Farmer’s Market, where he was a familiar face to many locals. In his younger years, he played in a band with his brother, Jimmy. He was a talented singer and piano player. He enjoyed performing at family and friends’ weddings and can be remembered especially for the Ave Maria and Daddy’s Little Girl. He enjoyed trips to the Ocean City beach and spending time outside on the deck at his daughter’s house soaking in the sun and nature’s beauty.

Lou was strong in his faith, which was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through life's joys and challenges with courage, hope, and resilience. He gave freely to others and had a generous spirit. His light hearted humor and laughter will be greatly missed, as Lou was one of a kind. He will remain forever in our hearts.

He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Deborah Chiumento (Ruel Cruz), grandson, Enzo Nico Cruz, brother, Charles Jr. Chiumento (Carol), sister-in-law, Arlene Chiumento, former sisters-in-law, Linda Whitworth (Richard), and Theresa Federici (Michael) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Lou was predeceased by his parents, Charles Sr. and Mildred Chiumento, brother, James Chiumento, former spouse, Deborah Chiumento, and nephew, Michael Federici, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday, January 18th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 27 Kresson Gibbsboro Road, Gibbsboro, NJ. Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place after mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Berlin, NJ.
