Lorence John Nogle, 83, passed away on Sunday December 4th at 4:00 am at Virtua Hospital, Voorhees, NJ.
Larry was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on August 14, 1939, to Laura Nichols and Willard Nogle. He remained in South Dakota until moving to Moorestown, New Jersey in the early 50’s. There, he attended Moorestown High School and graduated in 1957. He also attended Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a B.A. in business in 1966.
Between high school and college, Larry joined the Air Force from 1959 until 1962. He was stationed mostly at Yokota Air Force Base, Japan. His time was spent as a medical administrative specialist and playing baseball for the base Air Force team as a pitcher and flying all over the Far East. His love for baseball came from his father, who groomed him to be a left-handed pitcher. Baseball continued even into college, where he played for a team in Williamsport, PA.
He married Lorraine Parkinson and raised two sons, Lorence Scott and Christopher Edward Nogle, together in Gibbsboro, NJ. Out of college, Larry got a job working for the then Kennedy Hospital as an assistant administrator and then hospital administrator. He ended his medical career as the administrator of Kennedy Health Care in Sewell, NJ. His career with Kennedy lasted for 43 years until his retirement. He was also a licensed hospital accreditations inspector and traveled all over the United States. That continued even after his retirement from Kennedy.
Mostly, Larry liked to collect everything from coins to cap guns. He loved just having and looking at them. His other love was always his beagles. From Samantha, Abby, Maggie, and Casey. They were his best friends, and the love was unconditional on both sides.
Larry is survived by Lorraine, sons, Scott and Chris; his sister Lynne Nogle Garwood; his former daughter in law Jeanne Townsend; and his grandchildren, Stephen Leonetti, Erica Leonetti Baur (Albert), Danielle Leonetti, and Michael Dutka; nieces Kim, Kelly, and Dawn; and nephew Fred. He is predeceased by his parents Laura and Willard Nogle.
Larry will be cremated, and his ashes will be taken to Mobridge, South Dakota, where he longed to return. His heart never left South Dakota and he shared lots of stories about growing up there with his children and anyone who would listen.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date to honor Larry. He would like to thank everyone who touched his life and showed him love. Words to describe Larry would be a gentleman, kind, compassionate, generous, always with a smile, and with a love for family, friends, and country.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in his name can do so to the Lindenwold Animal Shelter or any shelter of your choice.
