On Monday, November 29, 2021, Lewis Owen Davis, Jr., 86, of Berlin, New Jersey passed away peacefully at home. Lew was born October 30, 1935, in Lakewood, Ohio to Lewis Owen Davis, Sr., and Catherine Oesterle Davis. He grew up in Westmont, New Jersey, was a trained military pilot and served in the United States Navy. He received a baccalaureate degree from Rutgers University, and successfully created and operated his own business for over 30 years. In addition to his military service, and academic and business accomplishments, Lew had a passion for golf, travel, sailing, and reading. He was a humanitarian and volunteered much of his working and retired life to efforts such as settling immigrants, caring for children with disabilities, and feeding the homeless. He was known for his generosity, and kind and compassionate spirit. Lew was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife and companion of 49 years, Mary Pearl Davis, three children Anne Davis, Mary Davis, and Chris Davis, two grandchildren Chris Purington and Sarah Swimelar, two great-grandchildren Landon and Brody Swimelar, his brother Jeff Davis, and several cousins, nieces, and a nephew. Lew loved his family and friends and lived a full and complete life. The Davis family welcomes relatives and friends to share your stories of remembrance during a celebration of Lew’s life on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Brio Italian Grille, 500 Route 73 South, Marlton, New Jersey at 12:00pm.
