It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kusum Makadia, who passed away peacefully on the morning of April 23, 2024. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Kusum touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
Kusum was known for her incredible culinary skills and her passion for Indian cooking. She found joy in preparing delicious meals, bringing people together around the table, and ensuring everyone’s bellies were full (usually beyond comfort). Her kitchen was not just a place for food, but a space where memories were created and cherished.
She also brought people together through her love for playing cards. Whether it be playing teen Patti with her friends, 555 with her family, or various games with any willing competitor in Atlantic City, her loved ones will always remember how sharp-minded, fair, and fun she waswhile playing.
Kusum also went out of her way to relate to the younger generation. She had a fierce love for Philadelphia sports (particularly the Sixers and Eagles), affinity for a Taco Bell Mexican Pizza, and could be found rapping along to the latest hip hop artists, to put a smile on faces.
Family was at the center of Kusum's life, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her loved ones. Her love knew no bounds, and she was always there to offer support, guidance, and unconditional love to her family members. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing and puja on Thursday, April 25th beginning at 10:00 am at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ, 08004. Cremation to follow. A live stream and recording of the service can be viewed by clicking here .
