Kathleen Anne Grillo

Kathleen A. Grillo, age 70, of Atco, NJ passed away on November 11, 2022. She was born to the late Joseph and Louise (Beratz) McDonald in Newark, NJ. Growing up Kathleen was truthful, honest, and hardworking. She was the youngest of five children. Kathleen adored her mom Louise and enjoyed being silly with her. She helped her mom around house whenever she could; which inevitably led to Kathleen becoming a phenomenal homemaker and interior decorator. She also enjoyed shopping and attending craft shows.

At the age of 40, Kathleen found her calling in addition to her home life and went to college to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She went on to teach math at Overbrook High School in Pine Hill, NJ for 25 years. Kathleen always went the extra mile for her students, finding innovative and enthusiastic ways to enhance her students' learning experience. An excellent cook with a love for baking and her festive spirit made Kathleen the perfect host for many gatherings at her home. She had a knack for decorating just right for the various holidays and seasons. Kathleen was always funny; with a good sense of humor she was easily able to fill a room with laughter. She enjoyed singing and was an avid animal lover; especially golden retrievers. Perhaps most of all, Kathleen found great joy in watching her sons become fathers and cherished being silly with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Kathleen is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Louise McDonald and sisters, Jeanie Leming and Rona Donahue.

She is survived by her sons, Brian Grillo (Jamie) and Daniel Grillo (Colleen); grandchildren, Wesley, Quinn, Patrick, and Logan; siblings, Louise Speidel (John) and Joseph McDonald III (Gail); father of her children and fellow proud grandparent, Gary Grillo; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday, November 16th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004 and on Thursday, November 17th from 10:00 am to 10: 45 am at Christ the Redeemer Parish/ Assumption Church, located at 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr. Atco, NJ. Mass to follow at 11:00 am. A live stream of the Mass will be available to view via this link . Kathleen will be laid to rest on Friday, November 18th at 11am at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ.
