Joyce Ann Sylvester

September 10, 1945 — June 10, 2024

Joyce Ann Sylvester (nee Neher), age 78 of West Berlin, NJ passed away surrounded by family on Monday, June 10th, 2024. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Holly Haran (Dan), and Susanne DeCerbo (Joseph), her dear sisters, Lorriane McKeown, Vickie Scates (Elliot) and Gail Gregori (Ernie), her beloved grandchildren, Justin Bradley (Morgan), Tara Biedrzycki (Michael), and Ashley DeCerbo-Modica (Michael), her cherished great-grandchildren, Justin C. Bradley III “Trippy B”, Oscar Biedrzycki, Bennett Biedrzycki, Drew Biedrzycki, Lilly Joe Modica, and Chloe Modcia, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Joyce is pre-deceased by her parents, Walter, and Sophie Neher.

Joyce was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her world revolved around her family, especially her daughter, Holly, grandson, Justin, and great-grandson, “Trippy”. She was born in Camden, NJ in 1945 to Walter and Sophie and grew up in Penbryn, NJ. As an adult, she worked at US Steel and enjoyed living and working in Philadelphia, PA. Later in life, Joyce retired from Black Horse Pike Regional School District.

She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies & Eagles fan; her family recalls time spent in front of the TV, Joyce never missing a game and her tray table filled with team stats and fantasy football papers. Joyce poured her love into the meals and desserts she cooked for her family. When she wasn’t cooking, baking, or rooting for her teams, Joyce, and her sisters, also known as “The Fabulous Four “ made many beach trips and shopping sprees at Ocean City, Cape May, Wildwood and Smithville. Joyce even traveled to Alaska with her daughter, Holly, a trip with memories that will live on forever. Her greatest joy in life was her family, helping to raise her grandson, Justin, making pancakes with him and watching him play baseball while he was growing up, endless laughs, and trips with “The Fabulous Four” and her daily phone calls with Holly.

Joyce was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Nature’s first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf’s a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay.

-Robert Frost
