Joseph R. Gfrorer, 85, of Berlin, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023.
Joseph was born in Camden, NJ to August A. and Margaret (nee Rotchford) Gfrorer. He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959 and was a member of the Camden City Fire Department from 1961 to 2001 and retired as the Fire Deputy Chief.
Joseph was an avid cat lover. He enjoyed gardening, making wine, raising butterflies, pickling hot peppers, cooking crabs and seafood, drinking beer, making cheesesteaks, and he loved music.
He was predeased by his wife, Patricia (nee Lacovara) Gfrorer; his parents; two sisters, Margaret “Trudy” Calhoun and Eileen Getty and his brother, Anthony “Gussie” Gfrorer.
Joseph is survived by two daughters, Deborah Weitzman and Sharon (Keith) Fraley; his sister, Patricia (Dan) Galasso; his brother, John Gfrorer; grandchildren, Nicholas (Kelsie) and Alexander, and several nieces and nephews.
He will be dearly missed by his family and all his cats.
Funeral services and entombment will be held privately. Arrangements are by LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004. Donations in Joseph’s memory may be sent to the Animal Welfare Association, 509 Centennial Blvd., Voorhees Township, NJ 08043.
