He is predeceased by his parents, Charles DeSorte, Sr. and Violet DeSorte, his brother, Charles (Sonny) DeSorte, Jr. As a young adult, Joe enjoyed traveling the world. Some of his most memorable stories include adventures and misadventures on the Swiss Alps and his free-spirited drive along the Amalfi Coast, the Italian countryside and the French Riviera. He loved sharing his unique and colorful cultural experiences that enriched his life. In his twenties, Joe was very proud of his accomplishment of flying solo out of Aero Haven Airport in Marlton, NJ which enabled him to obtain his private pilot’s license. He also loved racing his modified sports corvette at the Atco Dragway and won many trophies. Joe worked with his father and two brothers at the family construction business, C. DeSorte Associates, Inc. for over 45 years. As a side hustle, he also owned and operated a machine shop. When he was not working, he always had a book in his hand, eager to learn about an interesting new hobby or entrepreneurial pursuit. Through the years, Joe owned and trained many race and harness horses that he was very passionate about. He enjoyed traveling around the tri-state area to watch them compete. He was a self-taught “chemist” who enjoyed experimenting with homemade beer, wine and even specialty soap recipes. Gardening, golf, boating, and fishing were also among his favorite leisurely activities. One of his best catches was a 333 pound, 10 ½ foot long blue marlin in Hawaii! He was also very proud of his accomplishment of two holes in one in a par 3! Joe was a gentle soul with a soft-spoken nature and an extremely generous and altruistic spirit. He was a devoted and caring family man and gave of his time and talents so freely. He was a gift to his family and will remain forever in our hearts.
