John H. Dezeeuw Jr, age 73 of Atco, NJ passed away on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023, surrounded by his children. Beloved father of Melissa Dezeeuw, Lauren Parsinitz (Andrew), Lindsay Klapproth (David), Shannon Dezeeuw (Kian); devoted grandfather of Lillian, Davey and Morgan; dear brother of Bill Dezeeuw, Ellen Lilly (Thomas), and Diana Dezeeuw. He is also survived by many family, friends and neighbors. John is pre-deceased by his parents, John and Joan Dezeeuw.
John AKA "Mr. D.,” “Pop-Pop,” "Supervisor,” or “Hey Dad,” loved every minute of being a father to his 4 girls. He could fix everything and anything, even sometimes taking things apart just to make them even better. John always had a passion for cars. He worked at many shops and eventually owned his own transmission repair business and gas station. Later in life he became an ASE certified master technician and taught at AMMCO Job Corp. He loved being able to share the passion and knowledge he had for the industry with his students. Family and friends know him best for his heart of gold, giving the best advice and never declining to help anyone in need.
In his free time, John enjoyed taking his boat down the Delaware River and to Brigantine, New Jersey. Most of the time, he could be found at home, blasting Aerosmith, the Beatles, or Cream while working on projects. Once he became a grandfather in 2013, John soon earned the nickname, “Bad Grandpa;” a term of endearment from his children for allowing the grandkids to get away with things his children could not. John was loved by so many people and will be deeply missed by all those he graced with his presence.
Cremation will be held privately at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory.
A Celebration of Life gathering for all to attend will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by clicking this link .
