Joan Nesbitt

August 12, 1930 — April 8, 2025

Joan Nesbitt (nee Douglass), age 94, of Cherry Hill, NJ passed away on Tuesday, April 8th, 2025. She leaves behind her children, Hazel Johnson (Kean), Ronald Nesbitt (Lora Pereboeva) and Carol Dale (George, Sr.), daughter-in-law Betsy Rose Nesbitt, grandchildren, David Nesbitt (Valerie), Nora Nesbitt, Heather Nesbitt, Hunter Nesbitt, Robert Nesbitt, Ryan Nesbitt, Chrysta Santare Tim (Andrew), Hugh Santare (Britanny), George Dale, Jr., Amanda Burkhardt (Keith), and Eric Dale, great-grandchildren, Paisley Santare, Ella Santare, Dakota Dale, Ryker Dale, Skyler Dale, Ellie Burkhardt, Delaney Burkhardt, Vincent Nesbitt, and Christopher Nesbitt. Nieces and nephews in the UK: Jon and Ian Whiting, Lynn and Mark Overton. Joan is preceded in death, by her husband, Robert John Nesbitt "Bob", son, John Nesbitt (Regina), parents, John and Florence Douglass, as well as her brother, Jack Douglass (Evelyn).

Joan was born in Hebburn, England where she met her husband, Bob. She later took a ship to Canada (by herself in 1954) meeting Bob who went to Quebec City months earlier to secure a job and place for them to live. Joan and Bob started life in Canada (living there eleven years) where she gave birth to her children in Quebec (two sons) and in New Brunswick (two daughters). The Nesbitt's then achieved Bob's goal of moving to the United States in 1965 landing in Cherry Hill, NJ. Joan was a proud leader of the Girl Scouts and held the title of Queen Mom of the Red Hat Society. In her free time Joan enjoyed knitting and sewing. She also was an avid bargain shopper. Joan enjoyed styling her curated outfits and accessories to always look her best. Joan was a passionate ballroom dancer and continued to dance until her late 80's. Most of all, Joan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she cherished the time she spent raising her children, and the memories made with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joan's home, where she lived since 1965, was the hub of Nesbitt family activities and holiday gatherings.
