Joan Kay Watson

Joan K. Watson (nee Wilkinson), age 85, of Atco, NJ, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 with her children by her side. Beloved wife of the late Frederick W. Watson. Loving mother of Frederick W. Watson Jr. (April), Sherri L. Buffington (Arthur), and Kenneth C. Watson (Stephanie). Proud grandmother of Jake, Shane, and Sean. Dear sister to Dee Paolin (Jack) and George Wilkinson (Josie). Sister-in-law of the late Robert Watson (the late Adelma) and the late Donald Watson (the late Beatrice). Aunt and Great-Aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. She was also a great friend to many.

Joan was born in Camden, NJ and graduated from Camden High School in 1955. After high school, she worked for Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in the radiology department and for Hussmann Refrigeration Corp. She married Fred and moved to Atco, NJ in 1960 where she devoted the next five decades to caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and many family pets.

She will be most remembered for her kindness, her generosity of spirit, and her deep and abiding love for everyone — human and animal alike. Whenever a family member or friend was in need, they knew Joan would be there to get them through whatever crisis they faced. Her greatest loves were her family, boating with her husband, Fred and spending time at their shore house in Mystic Islands.

A graveside service will be held at Atco Cemetery, Atco, NJ at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 2, 2022. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Samaritan Hospice via this link .
