James Joseph Hogan, age 72, of Mystic Island, NJ, passed away on Sunday April 12, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Donna Hogan (nee Dykes). Loving father Joseph McNally III, Brian McNally, Alison Maurer, and the late James McNally. Proud grandfather Kerri McNally, Collin McNally, Christopher McNally, Kimberly McNally, Michael Gaffney, John Maurer, Shane McNally, Kristin McNally, James McNally, Sean McNally, Erin McNally, Zoe McNally, and Aubrey McNally ; great-grandfather of Sean, Owen, Declan, Gabrielle, Talia, Devon, Emersyn, Scarlett, and Sean. Dear brother of the late Thomas Hogan. Following his departure from serving in the Vietnam War around Christmas of 1968, Jim travelled across the country with his soon to be wife Donna Dykes. He spent some time working jobs with his dad, who was well known in the Philadelphia area Steamfitters union. He went on to take part ownership of a wrecking yard, where he labored along with the crew he led, providing a comfortable upbringing for his four children. Jim took up writing when he retired more than 20 years ago, and published two novels. He loved to play a round of golf with his friends, and often took overnight trips with them to unwind and catch up. That comradery continued up to just recently. He is now back with Donna and Bugsy (James), looking over all of us. A memorial service for Mr. Hogan will be held privately. Information for a web based live stream will be announced shortly.
