Irene Joan Westfield

Irene Joan Westfield, age 87, passed away peacefully at Vitas Hospice on Thursday morning, December 23, 2021, after a short, brave, battle with cancer. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, she lived in Philadelphia, PA, Levittown, PA, Bowie, MD, Shamong, NJ and most recently, Marlton, NJ. Irene was a member of three Catholic Churches, St. Mary of the Lakes Bereavement Committee, former leader of T.O.P.S., and creator and organizer of "Meet and Greet" at the Weston Club. Her many interests included baking, crafting, Chinese brush painting, decorating and socializing with her friends and family. As she would be the first to tell you, her family was her top priority and her friends, a close second. She also was a lover of both dogs and cats, and treasured the family's orange tabby, Qat, for 11 years. Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, William T. Westfield, who passed in 2016. Survivors include her son, Michael M. Westfield (Margaret), her daughter, Rebecca Kearon (Christopher), her brother, Ted P. Mitchell (Susan), her sister Cynthia Hawkshead (Richard), four granddaughters: Marina Packwood (Tim), Emily DeShantz (Lou), Rachel Kearon and Darby Kearon. Also, a 5-month old great-granddaughter, Stella DeShantz, and many nephews and nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 10:30am to 11:00am at St. Joan of Arc Parish, 100 Willow Bend Rd., Marlton, NJ. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or to Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit, 18 E.
