Irene C. Tyler

Irene C. Tyler, affectionately known as “MeMe”, age 95, of Sicklerville, New Jersey passed away on Monday, September 23 rd , 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. MeMe was born on July 16, 1929, in Orange, New Jersey. MeMe is predeceased by her son, Kevin White, mother Cornelia Wilson, father Edward Wilson and brothers, Robert and Roy Wilson.

MeMe grew up in Montclair, New Jersey and attended Glenfield Elementary School. She graduated from Montclair High School in 1946. MeMe attended Essex County College where she studied psychology. MeMe also took additional psychology classes at Camden County well into her eighties. MeMe worked in administrative roles at General Electric and E.I. Dupont de Nemours. MeMe was immensely proud of her children as she was always complimented about how well they used their manners. MeMe was determined and resilient when faced with life’s challenges. MeMe loved to take walks so long as there was no chance she might run into any “critters.” MeMe loved interacting with children and served as Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. MeMe was a gifted seamstress and could whip up an outfit in no time, oftentimes without a pattern. MeMe enjoyed many different genres of music such as, opera, classical, jazz, R&B oldies, and the contemporary Christian station. MeMe also enjoyed visiting Atlantic City and watching football.

MeMe was the matriarch of the family. She will be deeply missed and always remembered by her four surviving children, Karen Campbell, Esq. (Phillip), Mary Lozo (late William), Sharon Holder (Ulric) and Richard White, Jr. (Jeanette), her siblings, Louis Wilson and Malinda Crews, her great-grandchildren she supported and watched grow since they were babies, Ahssim Roberts, Ashante Appledorf (Jeremy), and Chanelle Jones as well as 17 grandchildren, Kalen Cook, Joy White Andrews, Torrie Jones, Malik Jones, Rashan Cook (late) Karima Everett (Jason), Richard White, III (Rosmira), Naeem Conway (Natasa), Tiffany Brown (Sean), Jermaine Holder (Patrice), Nykita Patterson (Shawn), Kyra Buter, Demitri Holder (Rachael), Phillip Butler, Jennifer Maria Hoarau (Raphael), Yasmine Green (Tyshawn), Aleem Fant, 40 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
