Gerald J. Morgan

April 24, 1947 — April 7, 2023

Gerald (Gerry) John Morgan of Glassboro NJ passed away on April 7th, 2023 after a long and hard fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Gerald was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on April 24, 1947 to Florence and Ellsworth Morgan(WW2), he was one of seven children.

Philadelphia was also the place where Gerald met the love of his life Eleanor (Dorr) his wife of 54 years with whom he had three wonderful children, Pamela, Andrea and Jason and where they resided (Mayfair) for their first 18 years of marriage prior to moving to Glassboro in the fall of 1987 where he bought his dream home with a yard and the swimming pool he always wanted and where he spent countless hours turning the backyard into his showplace for his building skills.

At an early age, Gerald held several jobs and worked for several organizations(SEPTA and Whitman’s Chocolate to name a few), until he learned/developed his ultimate niche in operating and maintaining large machinery, specializing in the commercial paper industry where he eventually had a long and successful career as a plant manager with Treco Fibematics (1988-2010). Gerald never missed a single day of work!!

In his spare time, Gerald was a tinkerer/handyman that enjoyed the challenge of being able to build or fix anything whether the project or need was electrical, plumbing related, mechanical, vehicle related, you name it…. Gerald would figure it out and make better than new….. and he would do this for ANYONE that needed help. For the building specifically, his wife Eleanor was a perfect match, she would design it and he would make it come to life.

Additionally, Gerald enjoyed playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, talking about his old cars (55’ Chevy was his favorite) and he was an avid reader of several genres, of which horror and sci-fi were his favorite.

Gerald also thoroughly enjoyed going on cruises with his family, watching and attending the Little League World Series and riding his motorcycle, all of which were passions he discovered later in life.

A man that was loved by all that got to know him, you could not help but laugh at his sarcasm and quick wit.

Gerald was deeply inspirational to his children and made them all strive to be successful in life by setting the example of what hard work and dedication means.

Gerald was predeceased by his father Ellsworth, mother Florence, brother Dennis, Sister Donna, daughter Andrea and grandson Jacob. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, daughter Pamela, son Jason and wife Lisa (Berry), son in law, Gregory Woerner, his nine grandchildren, Nathan, Morgan, Luke, Mark, Joshua, Jason, Gabriel, Jude, Noah, sisters Cathy and Linda, brothers Timothy and James. Services are being privately held with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
