Gerald F. Sleeter

Gerald “Gerry” F. Sleeter, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on his farm where he was born, raised, resided his entire life, and raised his children alongside his beloved wife. He was born to race and certainly had racing in his blood. His teenage years were spent racing cars. From racing cars, he went onto bull riding and calf roping, and onto his true calling of training and racing quarter horses and thoroughbreds. Gerry won many trophies and awards, most notably the Outstanding Owner and Breeder Award in 1998 and 2002 as well as The Virgil “Buddy” Raines Distinguished Achievement Award in 2008 at Monmouth Park. He also won many stake races with horses Eleven North, Who’s the Cowboy, and others; many of which retired to a comfortable life on the family farm. Gerry had a reputation of being kindhearted and was fortunate to share many good memories throughout the years with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Gerry is predeceased by his parents, Frederick Sleeter III and Alice Sleeter (nee Tong).

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn “Sis” Sleeter (nee Auwarter); children, Kevin Sleeter (Toni), Kasey Sleeter (Debbie), Kelly Paoli (Mark), and Kurt Sleeter (Anita); grandchildren, Kolton Sleeter (Sammi), Justin Sleeter, Renato Paoli, Marco Paoli, and Nina Paoli; sister, Dolly Seals; and Humberto Segundo who was a loyal employee for 25 years that became family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004. A memorial service will begin at 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
