George T. Barker, 65, of Gloucester Township, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family and friends on April 1, 2024. He was born on September 9, 1958, in Anderson, Indiana. George was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
In his youth, George was part of his local boy scouts and earned the highest rank becoming an Eagle Scout. He attended Frankton Junior Senior Highschool in Frankton, Indiana and went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He worked for 30 years as a Broadcast Engineer both in the United States and overseas.
George had a love for movies, especially science fiction. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, robotics, and 3D design and print creation. He will be fondly remembered for his witty sense of humor as well as the playful pranks he enjoyed pulling on his friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Barker, of 29 years and his four children, Lauren Barker (Craig), Angelica Barker (Seve), Adam Barker and Emily Barker; one grandson, Donald Layton; his in-laws, Dave and Debbie Grant, Denise Wilcox, Cyndi Barberio (Rob); his brothers Tony Barker (Anita), Tim Barker (Tina); several nieces and nephews, and "the cousins" that he loved so much.
Also surviving are his very close and special friends, Kim and Dexter Weeks, John Clark, James Antinone as well as his caring and loving neighbors who went above and beyond to help him when he needed them.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Harvey Barker, and Helen Grigsby Gustin, and his oldest brother Richard Floyd Barker.
