Frank M. Tanzi, age 79, who resided in Hammonton, NJ, originally from Brooklyn, NY, passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep, on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Tanzi (nee Boccia), his daughter Lisa Tanzi and her partner Dennis Bradstreet, his daughter Carla and her husband John Balinsky, and his granddaughter, Jolina Balinsky. Frank is also survived by his close friend, Frankie Franzese, many other friends from Elmtowne Village, and will be missed by his best Shih Tzu friend, Bo.
Frank was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and that's where he spent most of his life, as a true friend and confidant to many.
Frank was a loyal and dedicated employee who managed a steel manufacturing plant before he retired. Throughout his tenure, He came across many types of people from different walks of life and backgrounds and was able to find common ground & build a rapport with many. He was not only respected but liked.
Frank also owned an ice cream parlor "The Latest Scoop" with his wife Josephine (Jomae). The store quickly became a neighborhood hang out for all his daughters’ friends and was the most enjoyable part of Frank's daily routine. Frank would work his regular job all day, manage the store at night, and still found the energy to be everyone's second Dad. The ice cream parlor definitely lived up to its name, in more ways than one, and brought so much joy through the years.
Frank was an avid car enthusiast. Many hours of Frank's days were spent looking for or buying automobiles, and even a few boats to refurbish or rebuild. Frank also loved handiwork and was great at building and fixing things, and woodcraft. Sometimes, his methods were unconventional and conjured eyebrow raises from onlookers, but everything always came together and the memories and laughs live on forever.
Frank was a proud, loving Grandpa and enjoyed being with his granddaughter. Whether it was going on drives around town and grabbing lunch someplace, having fun at car shows, cheering her on at her softball games, or just relaxing on the couch. He loved every minute of their time together.
Frank also dearly loved his dog, Bo. He and his furry companion liked their daily walks together. The joy they brought to each other’s lives was evident each day by the smile on his face and her high held tail wag when in each other's presence.
Before meeting the love of his life and starting a family, Frank joined the Army and proudly served his country as a certified marksman, and was trained to assist in emergency medical care, until his honorable discharge.
Frank never really went about his day without thinking of others. He often returned home with things you needed or thought you would enjoy. His small acts of generosity never went unnoticed.
All through his life, Frank was a hardworking, compassionate man who was willing to help anyone with anything. Whatever he could do for family and friends, he did without hesitation.
He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Frank did not want a traditional wake or funeral and his wishes were respected. A visitation and cremation were held privately.
Condolences can be shared on Frank’s tribute wall.
