Francis Xavier Lorbecki, Jr. of Woolwich, NJ, came home to the Lord on February 19, 2021 surrounded by his family. Loving husband to June, he longed to be with her again and got his wish; they were married 73 years and shared a lifetime of love and family together. Francis was one of six children of Francis X Sr and Bernice (Kubisiak). He was predeceased by brothers Robert, John and David and is survived by sister Mary Lorbecki Fendt. He is also survived by his loving children, Barbara E. McManus (Steve), Karen F. Grimley, James F. Lorbecki (Beth) and Julie A. Ferenz (John Clark) and grandchildren, Collin J. Lorbecki, Julianne F. Lorbecki, Alexander J. Ferenz, Abigail J. Ferenz, Christopher J. Clark and Matthew K. Clark as well as many nieces and nephews. Francis served in World War II where he enlisted in the Marine Corps the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked. He served in the Pacific theater during the war and participated in several historic battles such as Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. He was a member of the Second Marine Division, Second Signal Company where during his time, he was one of the servicemen to aid in the training of the Navajo Code Talkers ... truly a member of the greatest generation. He often discussed and remembered in amazing detail his time in the service; places visited and people he served with. Francis was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and also served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Luke’s parish in his home town of Stratford. He spent many years volunteering and delivering Meals on Wheels as well as being the Treasurer for the local town library. He was a US Postal worker once out of the service and then moved on to the financial sector as a teller at Inter-Boro Savings and Loan in Laurel Springs NJ. He moved his way up thru the organization to Vice President and head of the Mortgage Department as well as become a member of the Board of Directors. He retired early to enjoy traveling with his wife on 35+ cruises, but continued to volunteer and serve the community for many years. Family is asking in lieu of flowers to please donate your time and service to organizations that are in need or to Samaritan Hospice.
