Eric R. Oliver

Eric R. Oliver, 79, Philadelphia Eagles fan to the end As a young man, Eric and his family lived in Wildwood Crest, NJ, where he was an acolyte and choir member at Saint Simeon’s Church. The family moved to Barrington where Eric attended Haddon Heights High School. He enrolled in the University of Oklahoma and enlisted in the Marine Corp as a reservist. Before retiring, Eric worked for the Department of Defense, which took him around the world inspecting and repairing Naval vessels in port. His many interests included but were not limited to: deep sea diving, traveling the globe, motorcycling, playing the lottery, dining at the Silver Coin Diner or Rodio’s Kitchen, reading, and rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles through thick and thin (even during the shaky Kotite/Rhodes years). “Uncle Rick” enjoyed spending holidays with family in NJ and PA, and non-holidays with his second family at Paul’s Tavern in Lindenwold. He was a gentle, private person with a lively laugh, and will be missed by all who knew him. Eric is survived by his nieces, Lauren Boucher of Lake Hopatcong, NJ and Elizabeth Jordon or Magnolia, NJ; nephews Christopher Oliver or Loong Beach, CA and Jonathan Oliver of Philadelphia, PA; and cousins Robert Oliver, Kevin Oliver, and Don Bealer. Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Helen (nee Thompson) and Frederick Sr., and his only sibling, Frederick Jr. The service will be available via live stream by the funeral home for those who wish to join.
