It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we announce on July 13, 2024, Diana L. Shacklett-Gilson received her wings and joined her Lord and Savior. Her passing was sudden, leaving a hole in the hearts of anyone who was blessed enough to cross her path.
Born on February 19, 1958, Diana was the daughter of the late Stephen and Margot Czepiel of Philadelphia, and the sister to many siblings, both biological and adopted. She is survived by her loving husband Glenn Gilson of Berlin, NJ. She leaves behind her children, Edward Shacklett (Amanda), Eric Shacklett, Elissa Gandy (Jesse), Emily McElvarr (Tyler), and stepchildren Samantha, Andrew, and Ben Gilson. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Carter, Jack, Liam, Theo, and River. Although she did not get to formally meet her grandson, Jaymes, it is without a doubt that he was safely delivered by her, to his parents’ arms from heaven.
There is no one word to describe Diana. She was a selfless daughter, mother, wife, and grandmother. She spent years happily being her father’s caregiver. There was no problem her children faced that she couldn’t solve. She was a dedicated and hardworking business owner and lover of essential oils, gardening, the Phillies, and puzzles, but her number one favorite this was spending time with her family, whether it was at home, or in the mountains. Of all the hats she wore, the most important one to her was being a grandmother. She was the kind of grandmother that people wrote books about. Whether it was cheering on a baseball game or concert, baking banana bread and birthday cakes, playing at the beach, or having them for a sleepover, her eyes always shined the brightest when her grandbabies were around.
Diana was a faithful child of God, who knew that there was a Heaven waiting for her when the time came. Sometimes God puts angels on this Earth, and this beautiful soul was one of them. Although the world feels a little darker without her in it, Diana would want everyone to smile and rejoice because they know she is with her Lord and is watching over all of them. She believed in signs, such as cardinals being her dad visiting her, so look for your signs of her, for she will always be with you
.
“When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory!”
