David Heim, 78, of Marlton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 21, at home with his loving wife by his side.
Married 55 years to his high school sweetheart, Kathleen S. (Schwegel) Heim. Together they raised four children, Diana Lucca (husband Joseph) , Debra Heim (partner Luis Taboada) , David Heim (wife Vanessa (Smyth)), and Andrea Pascale (husband Matthew), who were the pride and joy of his life. Known lovingly as “Pop Pop,” he cherished his seven grandchildren—Gianna and Matteo; Fiona, Teagan and Cillian; Javier; and Violet.
A beloved brother to Joseph Heim (deceased) (wife Margie), William Heim (wife Frances), Thomas Heim (wife Anne), Jane Dickerman (husband Christopher), Anne O’Donnell (husband Edward) , Rita Harder (husband Frank), Barbara Ballard (husband James), Georgeann Wilke (husband Wayne), Teresa Heim, Gregory Heim (wife Roseanne), Paul Heim (wife Debra), and Robert Heim (deceased); and family to many brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born on February 9, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph E. and Lillian L. (Sosna) Heim, he leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and service. Growing up in Bellmawr, NJ, David was a 1964 graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School. From 1969 to 1972, David proudly served in the army during the Vietnam War as a tank driver and in the Military Police. David’s career as a grocer began at his father’s store in Bridesburg, PA and culminated in owning and operating Heim’s Market in Bellmawr, NJ. Whether behind the counter or connecting with customers, David’s kind heart and strong work ethic were evident to all.
David was a dedicated parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Parish in Atco, NJ and served as Faithful Navigator for the Knights of Columbus. He believed in loving others as Jesus taught, always seeking to uplift those in need.
He was a youth baseball coach, a horseman and Camden County 4-H leader, a member of St Joseph High School’s booster club (Hammonton, NJ), a member of the VFW and American Legion, a hunter, a fisherman, a mentor, a boss, a handyman, a family man, and a friend.
David Heim was truly the epitome of a Godly man. He is deeply loved and will be forever missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend David’s viewing on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 9:00am to 11:00am at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike Atco, NJ. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:30am at Christ the Redeemer Parish, 315 Carl Hasselhan Dr. Atco, NJ. Interment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, 260 W White Horse Pike Berlin, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David’s name to support Shane’s Council Knights of Columbus Waterford Works, NJ or Christ the Redeemer Catholic Parish Atco, NJ in honor of his unwavering faith and dedication to helping others.
The Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 157 Oak St Waterford Works, NJ following the cemetery.
