Clyde Kenneth Brookbank 72, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was happy to be at home, surrounded by family, friends, neighbors and his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Judy. Raised in Hicksville, Long Island, by Kenneth and Catherine (nee Ackley) with his sister Jane Panahy (Kourosh) and brother Kenny (Maureen Letscher). While attending Stevens Institute of Technology, Clyde joined the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, a brotherhood that gathered around him from all over the country 50+ years later to say goodbye. Time spent traveling with his fraternity brothers & their spouses was a highlight of his life. Clyde married his high school sweetheart, Judy, in 1972. He pursued his career as a Metallurgical Engineer before settling down in Waterford, NJ. Clyde shared many stories of his buddies and work at Newport News Shipbuilding, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Sun Ship, and Oyster Creek Nuclear Power Plant. Clyde and Judy raised two children, Christine Swider (Tom) and Dan (Stacie Midure). He was a proud Papa to Thomas, Adam, Cooper, Camille, Scarlett, Crosby, and Ginger, always slipping them a few dollars, some candy, or (best of all) a pea shooter. An avid golfer, Clyde also kept a meticulous garden and was a lawn-master. He enjoyed working on home projects and giving friends advice on theirs. He enjoyed the simple pleasures: a well-smoked hotdog, ginger candies, dark chocolates, obscure trivia, Taco Bell, a cold beer and an old pipe on his back porch. Clyde will be honored by his family in a private celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: https://www.stjude.org/donate
