Christine Mary Luba

Christine Mary Luba (nee Wierzchowski), age 87, of Swedesboro, NJ, passed away on Thursday June 30, 2022.  Beloved wife of 61 years to the late Arthur E. Luba.  Loving mother of Karen (Robert) Corneal, Eileen (Troy) Clancy, and Susan Luba.  Proud grandmother of Michael, Sara, Lauren, Jonathan, Rose, and Max; great-grandmother of Parker, Sofia, Sadie, Olivia, and Benjamin.  Dear sister of Doris Caputo, Carol Kadamus and the late Betty Kilcoyne.  She is also survived and will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Chris graduated from Perth Central High School in 1952 and started work as a secretary at General Electric Corporation in Schenectady, NY. Shortly after, she and Art began their family and Chris became the quintessential stay-at-home-mom. She was known by family and friends as the best cook around; seriously, her meals were always “chef quality”! Her home was her castle, and she created a warm, comfortable space no matter where they lived - from NJ to FL to SC and back to NJ. She could sew beautiful clothing, reupholster a sofa or refinish an antique dresser – nothing was out of her reach. During the early NJ years, Chris drew on her rural childhood and introduced her own children to horses, chickens, and goats, as well as the family pets. In her younger days, she and Art enjoyed travelling the world, boating and golfing; in more recent years, she enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles and her backyard garden. Chris was a loving, supportive mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family, and a friend to all she met.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at St. Clare of Assisi Parish – St. Michael Church, 313 Memorial Ave. Gibbstown, NJ.  A funeral mass will begin at 11:00 am.  Cremation and interment will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to one of the two charities Chris was actively involved in helping.  Chris sewed many dresses for "Dress A Girl Around the World", which accepts donations at Hope 4 Women International PO Box 14, Forest City, IA 50436.  Chris made meals for the Ronald McDonald house, which accepts donations at RMH of Southern New Jersey, Inc., 550 Mickle Boulevard, Camden, NJ 08103
