Charles R. “Rex” Leach age 70yrs of Tansboro, NJ passed away on June 1, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones at the Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ. Rex is survived by his fiancée, Elizabeth Humphreys, his children, Jason Leach (Heather) of Atco, NJ, Kimberly Leach of Blue Anchor, NJ, Tiffany Leach-Berth (Kevin) of Hainesport, NJ, Heather Ackerman (Billy) of Atco, NJ, Courtney Leach (Mike) of Hainesport, NJ, Brandy Conners (Sean) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Mark Cummins (Kristy) of Lehighton, PA, Brandon Cummins (Jordan) of Lehighton, PA and Victoria Leach (Bob) of Blue Anchor, NJ. Rex is also survived by his brother Christopher Leach (Teresa) and the mother of his children, Rosemary Leach. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Megan, Phoebe, Rileigh, Keegan, Alexander, Logan, Carter, Dempsey, Tony, Eddy, Kai, Brody, Savannah, Hayden, Aubrey, Mia, Morgan, Blakely, Parker and Owen. He will also be missed by his four-legged companion, “Boo”


Rex is predeceased by his grandson Aidan and his parents, Edward & Doris Leach.


Rex was an avid musician throughout his life. He was a talented trombone player who played in many bands in his lifetime including the “Firehouse Five” and the “Hobo Band”. He gave his love of music to his children and loved hearing them and his grandchildren perform.


Rex spent his lifetime teaching and passing on his passion for shooting and firearm safety. He was an NRA instructor who taught generations of people to hunt and handle firearms. He was a member of the Telco Sportsman’s Club since its inception and spent many a day on the range as well as being an avid outdoorsman.


Rex was dedicated to serving and protecting others. He was a Life Member of the Tansboro Vol. Fire Co. During that time, he rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Chief of the Tansboro Fire Department, Station 254. After the creation of the Winslow Twp., Fire Department, he was promoted to the position of Battalion Chief and served as a Winslow Township Fire Commissioner.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm. At the conclusion of the service at the funeral home, all family members and friends will process to the Tansboro Vol. Fire Department Station 254 where all will assemble for the “Final Alarm” “We will take it from here Chief”


Because of Rex’s dedication to helping others, his family is asking for donations to the: Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund, 162 W White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ 08009. Money that is received will be used to render financial and educational assistance to the surviving spouse and children who are left with little or no support when a Camden County law enforcement officer, firefighter, or emergency medical person loses his/her life in the line of duty and will also provide scholarships to children of those who serve in public safety.
