Charles Isaac Nelson, age 95, of Haddon Twp. NJ, defiantly passed away early Tuesday Morning February 8, 2022, true to form, when he was ready and not until… Charles is the son of the late Charles B. and Mable (nee Hudson) Nelson, and brother to the late MaryJane Nowry. He is survived by his wife June Bove Nelson. Father to the late Bruce C. (Debbie) Nelson of Lindenwold, David A. (Kathy) Nelson of Haddon Twp., and Kenneth J. (Alicia) Nelson of Cedarbrook. Loving grandfather of Chad, Brian, Steven, Sara, Charles, and Emily Nelson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Charles proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a drummer, jockey until being drafter for service, an avid hunter, decoy carver, and consummate ball busting storyteller. He worked at the Bulletin for twenty-five years until it closed its doors and eventually retired from the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. After retirement, he spent his days “making chips” in his decoy shop at the house or working with his cohort in crime, Capt. Harry Jobes, of Havre de Grace, MD. He also enjoyed following his grandchildren’s exploits. A viewing will be held on Monday February 14, 2022, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at the Leroy P. Wooster Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. A prayer service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cedarbrook, NJ.
