Caroline A. Newhouse

Caroline Newhouse, age 93, of Elm, NJ, passed away at Samaritan hospice on August 3, 2024. Caroline was born on April 7, 1931 in Camden, NJ. Caroline became a member of the National Honor Society at Overbrook High School during a time when women rarely were bestowed such an elite honor. After graduation, Caroline met her husband, John Newhouse, Jr. They resided in Atco, NJ where they raised their family. Caroline and her husband went on to volunteer for the Atco Ambulance Squad while Caroline was also a teacher’s aide at Atco Elementary School. After retiring, Caroline moved to Elm, NJ, where she spent time watching old westerns, reading, putting

together puzzles and bird watching. Caroline enjoyed socializing with the Red Hat Society alongside her loving sister, and best friend, Lillian.

Caroline was predeceased by her parents Walter and Catherine Wichrowski, husband, John Newhouse, Jr., sons Walter and Thomas and sister, Lillian Parashack. Caroline is survived by her loving grandson and

long-time caregiver, Steven Newhouse, son John (Theresa) Newhouse, III., grandchildren, Denise (Edward) Hatton, Thomas Newhouse Jr., Shana Newhouse and Stephanie (Edward) Keenan as well as 5 great-grandchildren.

Services will be privately held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan Gift Processing Center, PO Box 71425, Philadelphia, PA 19176-1425 or use this link to donate.
