Barbara Navickas

Barbara (nee Young) Navickas, age 77, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones in Sewell, New Jersey, on January 3, 2025.

Barbara was born on August 3, 1947 in nearby Camden, the eldest daughter of Frank and Evelyn Young. She graduated from Camden Catholic High School and went on to study at the Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, receiving her R.N. diploma in 1968.

That same year, on Sept. 7, Barbara married Thomas Navickas, of Blackwood, New Jersey. They moved to Clearwater, Florida, in 1973, and together they welcomed two children Dale and Arian.

Barbara worked in various nursing roles over her lengthy career, including stints at Mease Dunedin Hospital and Clearwater Community Hospital in Florida. She finished her career as a home health nurse for BayCare HomeCare until her retirement in 2019.

When she wasn’t working, Barbara loved spending time with her family and at the shore. She’ll be remembered as a kind and caring woman, as well as a passionate reader. Barbara moved home to New Jersey in 2023.

She is survived by her son, Dale Navickas; her daughter, Arian Navickas; and her grandson Tejas Navickas.

She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Young Shipley (Dennis); her nieces, Angelique and Krystle; her close cousin, Mary Shelton (William); and her brother-in-law, Alben Navickas (June).

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, as well as her beloved husband.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ  08004.
