Barbara J. Irving

Barbara J. Irving; age 77 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 8th, 2021. Born in the family home on September 9th, 1943 into the loving arms of George & Dorothy Milligan, Barbara enjoyed a happy childhood in Philadelphia alongside her 4 older siblings before relocating to Starcross, New Jersey for the remainder of her primary years before meeting the love of her life Glenn F. Irving, Sr. Glenn & Barbara were married in 1962 and settled in Collings Lakes NJ where they raised their three children and enjoyed a 40-year marriage. As a couple they enjoyed long road trips to the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. As they entered their golden years they spent time together immersed in woodworking and painting projects. Many of their creations can still be found in the homes of their children still to this day. Barbara is fondly remembered as a voracious reader and diligently kept a record of all of the books she read; the journal quickly filling to hundreds if not thousands of titles over the years. Of her many hobbies; the one she was most passionate about was finding the diamond in the rough at a yard-sale. Anyone who has ever headed out with her on a Saturday morning will be able to share a story of a demanded U-Turn and hours spent exploring the treasures and possibilities. Barbara is survived by her daughters, elder sister Dorothy, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her loving husband Glenn F. Irving Sr. and son Glenn F. Irving Jr. Barbara’s family will be holding a cremation and private interment. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Collings Lakes Civic Association (CLCA P.O. Box 475 Williamstown, NJ 08094) in support of the continued growth of the community that Barbara has known and loved her entire life. Condolences may be shared with the family on her tribute wall.
